Craps has been around for a very long time, it was originally called 'Hazard'. A man by the name of Bernard de Mandeville took this game of 'Hazard', made it simpler and that became the first version of Craps in 1813.

Ever since the very beginning this game has been played by many more players and has become an extremely popular casino game.

How to Play Craps

Craps is played with 2 dice on a table ( except for street craps which does not use a table ) . Players bet on what they think the outcome of the dice thrown will be. The 'shooter' is the player that is rolling the dice. The first throw is known as the 'come out' throw. If the shooter throws a 7 or 11 he or she immediately wins. If a 2, 3, or 12 is thrown the player loses immediately, this is known as craps. Any other total thrown by the player is called the players 'point'. The player must continue rolling until a point or a 7 is thrown. If a point is rolled before 7 the player wins.

Craps Betting

Pass Line Bet: This is the most commonly used bet in craps. This bet pays 1:1. If a 7 or 11 is thrown on your 'come out' roll, you win. You will lose if a 2, 3 or 12 (Craps) is rolled on your 'come out' roll. If you roll a point on your 'come out' roll and then a point is rolled again before a 7 you win.

Don't Pass Bet:
This bet is basically opposite to the pass line bet. If your 'come out' roll is a 2, 3 or 12 you win. If you throw a 7 or 11 you lose. A 12 is a push.

Come Line Bet: This bet can be made at any time. You can also put money on the odds that a point will be rolled before a 7.

Don't Come Bet: This is opposite to the come line bet. If you roll a 2 or 3 you win and if you roll an 11 or a 7 you lose. 12 is a push.

Field Bets: If you roll a 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12 you win. If you roll a 5, 6, 7 or 8 you lose.

A less known fact about the casinos in Las Vegas is that they never use dice with rounded corners. It is believed that they are more random because they roll around way more than the ones with sharp corners.
